The 38th Annual Congress of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM 2025) will be held in Munich, Germany, from 25th to 29th October 2025.
The ESICM is one of the world’s leading professional societies dedicated to intensive care medicine. Its mission is to enhance patient outcomes and promote evidence-based practices through a broad range of research initiatives. These include large-scale surveys, clinical trials, and the support of specialized research groups focused on critical areas within intensive care. In addition, the Society awards research grants to encourage expert collaboration and groundbreaking studies. ESICM also plays a key role in the development of clinical guidelines and recommendations, setting gold standards that help clinicians worldwide deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
Through these initiatives, ESICM ensures consistency, innovation, and excellence in intensive care practices—ultimately improving outcomes for critically ill patients.

ESICM aims to foster collaborative research among its members and to promote European Intensive Care Research. The Society has supported 18 Trial Group studies to date, that have enrolled more than 69,000 patients in total. All studies, observational or interventional, were international multicentric.
The Trial Group contributed to the advancement of knowledge of research in intensive care. The scientific programme will include an ample variety of formats: symposia, dynamic debates, case presentations, interactive lectures and case discussions and many more!
